Choose one of our Earth Science programs and apply for the Earth Sustainability Scholarships.

Up to $10,000 / year, renewable

Application Requirements

  • 3.0+ transfer GPA
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay demonstrating: your specific interest in sustainability or environmental science; your career goals; relevant background, including sustainability-related college coursework, any certifications, volunteer hours for sustainability projects
  • Choose bachelor’s degree major in Geology or Geography and Environmental Resources
  • Applicants should have demonstrated financial need
  • Interviews may be part of the application process

EARTH SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARS

SIU includes a dynamic community of STEM researchers in geology, geography, forestry, agriculture, and other areas affiliated with the study of sustainability. Including you.

  • You’ll enter a community of fellow scholars (your cohort) with whom you’ll participate in ESS activities
  • Tailored orientation
  • Hands-on and outdoor learning
  • Mentoring network of peers and faculty
  • Invitations to join on-going faculty research
  • Preparation for McNair Scholars, REACH program and other grant-funded, mentored research for you to launch your own investigations
  • Career-focused counseling, including leadership
    development and practical workforce skills
