Up to $10,000 / year, renewable
Application Requirements
- 3.0+ transfer GPA
- Two letters of recommendation
- Essay demonstrating: your specific interest in sustainability or environmental science; your career goals; relevant background, including sustainability-related college coursework, any certifications, volunteer hours for sustainability projects
- Choose bachelor’s degree major in Geology or Geography and Environmental Resources
- Applicants should have demonstrated financial need
- Interviews may be part of the application process
EARTH SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARS
SIU includes a dynamic community of STEM researchers in geology, geography, forestry, agriculture, and other areas affiliated with the study of sustainability. Including you.
- You’ll enter a community of fellow scholars (your cohort) with whom you’ll participate in ESS activities
- Tailored orientation
- Hands-on and outdoor learning
- Mentoring network of peers and faculty
- Invitations to join on-going faculty research
- Preparation for McNair Scholars, REACH program and other grant-funded, mentored research for you to launch your own investigations
- Career-focused counseling, including leadership
development and practical workforce skills
